An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Fifes Paediatric Epilepsy Specialist Service. We are seeking to recruit a dynamic Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team. The Paediatric Epilepsy Service has a strong multi disciplinary team and welcome enthusiastic and motivated nurses who are passionate about providing excellent care to children and their families.

The Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team working together to deliver this specialist service, promoting treatment pathways that empower and support children and their families to manage their condition and helping to minimise hospital admissions. You will be responsible for developing and working within evidence-based specialist pathways of care, guidelines and protocols to support patients and their families.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

As a Band 6 Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist you will:

• Deliver and develop epilepsy nurse led services to the paediatric population of Fife from 0 – 16 years (18 years dependant on circumstances)
• Hold Professional and managerial responsibility for a caseload of paediatric patients allocated to the specialist paediatric epilepsy service in Fife
• Ensure the highest standard of personalised nursing care is delivered to patients and their families in partnership with all members of the multi disciplinary team
• Be responsibility for the supervision of the assessment of care needs and the delivery and maintenance of optimal care outcomes.
• Motivate staff to provide high standards of care by acting as a role model.
• Provide expert professional and clinical care advice to patients, carers and multi-disciplinary team.
• Be responsible for providing specialist education and training programmes for health care professionals and other professional groups.
• Implement and undertake research activities ensuring evidence-based practice in the specialist area.

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications

Essential

• Be a registered nurse.
• Evidence of continuous Professional Development
• Post Registration qualification in Epilepsy
