Clinical Psychologist & Cognitive Behaviour Therapist: At Risk Mental State (ARMS) and Early Intervention in Psychosis Service
A qualified psychologist competent in delivery of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for psychosis (CBTp) is required to work in our Early Intervention in Psychosis service. There will be a particular focus on At Risk Mental State patient identification and CBT delivery, as well as management/resolution of any bio-psycho-social patient issues that arise outside of the CBTp sessions. They will also provide non-ARMS functions spread across the week and sites including but not limited to: CBT for non-ARMS patients; supervision of prequalification staff on CBTp-related placements; supervision of Assistant Psychologists who help clinically; supervision of band 6 Care Co-ordinators (nurses, social workers, occupational therapists); contribution to daily whole EIS team multidisciplinary meetings; and other non-ARMS functions as required by the EIS Team Manager. Applicants must have experience of delivering CBTp to NHS psychosis clients. The work locations are Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster

Main duties of the job
To provide a clinical service. Primarily, support the Team in identifying, formulating, managing and intervening with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Psychosis for patients in an At Risk Mental State, as well as managing any bio-psycho-social patient issues that arise outside of the CBT sessions.
You will require excellent engagement skills, with an enabling approach to co-production with your patients. You should be skilled in assessing mental health, creating risk assessments, safety plans and crisis and contingency plans.
About us
We are looking to recruit one Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join the team. You should have a relevant qualification as well as demonstrable experience in community mental health and an understanding of the Early Intervention model of care. We provide a bio-psychosocial approach in working with our patients, and the team works in strong multi-disciplinary approaches with colleagues in psychiatry, psychology, employment specialists, peer support, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, activity coordinators and administrative staff.
The post can be challenging and hugely rewarding - you will be supported by your peers, colleagues and managers with regular daily meetings, as well as clinical and managerial supervision.

Identify ARMS patients using the CAARMS-2023 and other assessment strategies Intervene with ARMS patients using individual Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Intervene with ARMS patients using group Psychoeducation and group CBT Manage and resolve bio-psycho-social patient issues that arise outside of CBTp sessions Intervene with non-ARMS EIS patients using individual CBTp Joint supervise pre-qualification staff who are on non-ARMS CBTp training placements Receive CBT supervision from the EIS teams CBTp Supervisor Supervision of band 6 Care Co-ordinators (nurses, social workers and occupational therapists) Contribute to daily multidisciplinary meetings of the EIS team To support the EIS Team Manager with the successful running of the EIS team To have an active role with other senior colleagues in the continuing development of a high quality service that is underpinned by evidence based practice, care pathways and NICE guidance Contribute to Quality Improvement projects Deliver training specific to the role to members of the EIS MDT Act as a role model to colleagues, always seeking to maintain the highest standards of professionalism In delivering your duties you are expected to display behaviours that are aligned with the trusts core values. Education and Qualifications
Essential
Doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology or equivalent and Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist.
Desirable
Other relevant training, eg substance misuse, working with adolescents.

Experience of delivering CBTp to NHS clients Experience working in an NHS Multidisciplinary team. Experience of working in a multi-cultural setting, including working with interpreters.

Skills and knowledge

Knowledge of NICE guidelines relevant to ARMS, Early Intervention and Psychosis. Highly developed specialist knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of CBT applied to clinical practice, particularly in respect of adults and young people with severe and enduring mental health disorders (including personality disorders). Ability to manage emotionally stressful situations such as working with victims of abuse or trauma, or with people who engage in severe self-harming or aggressive behaviour. Risk identification and management in psychosis Able to plan, prioritise and organise own service user caseload, treatment programmes involving other staff, and other aspects of the work such as research activity Well -developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS . Ability to work effectively within a multi - disciplinary team, contributing to effective team functioning and holding team roles Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate. Receiving regular clinical supervision . Self -motivation Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to translate knowledge into different contexts .
