As an ED Registered Nurse, you will be working alongside our Doctors and the rest of the multidisciplinary team to care for Paediatric and Adult patients. More detail about the role

Our Emergency Department (ED) is a busy high performing unit which has nearly , attendances per year. We therefore require skilled, dynamic and enthusiastic Registered Paediatric Nurses who have previous experience of working in an acute setting. In return for your drive and commitment we will offer ongoing support and development to further your skill base.

The work and pace can be challenging but there will be plenty of opportunity to put organisational skills into practice as well as learn the expert clinical skills required. We care for all specialties including Paediatrics, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Medical and Surgical patients. As a Paediatric Nurse you will be expected to care for both adults and children in a mixed emergency care setting, full training and guidance will be given.

We offer a tailored 2-week induction programme that will provide you with the foundation skills and knowledge to be successful in your role, as well as protected supernumerary time for a minimum of 3 weeks to ensure you are confident in your new role. We have an in-house practice facilitator that will work with you to achieve your learning goals.

We have recently completed phase 1 of a large redevelopment in the ED in which has delivered a new 8 bedded purpose-built resus room (2 dedicated paediatric spaces), a modern reception and waiting area, new ambulance entrance, bereavement suite and internal reconfiguration. Phase 2 of the build is due to complete in December 4 and will see the completion of a bespoke children’s area and collocated Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU). This will transform the way we care for children and families in the emergency setting and presents an exciting opportunity to be part of this change.

If as a Registered Nurse you have recent experience of working in an acute care environment we would love to hear from you. There will be an opportunity on the day for you to visit the departments and hear more about the work we do.

Working Pattern: hours per week (part time considered)

Interview Date: To be confirmed

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 4-5 rates, inclusive of a pay award implemented from October 4. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 4 or your start date, whichever is later. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 3-4 pay bandings ().
