Personal Assistant/Carer – 12-month Contract

An opportunity has arisen for a personal assistant to join a small, very friendly team to assist with the day to day lifestyle needs of two active Gents in their 30’s, based in the Silverdale area, Newcastle Under Lyme, ST5.


Start Date – September 2024, for a 12 month period only.

*PLEASE NOTE - Drivers Licence is essential for this role*

Rate of Pay:

Up to £11.54 per hour
£52 (5 hours) sleep in rate.
A pay award is pending, with a contributory pension entitlement.

Weekly Hours:
Start Date – September 2024, for a 12-month period only.
15 to 29 hours depending on Applicants availability.


Shifts Available:
Wednesday: 10am - 6pm
Saturday: 10am - 5pm
Thursday: 8 30pm - 11pm sleep-in.
Friday: 7am - 10am
Saturday: 5pm - 11pm sleep-in
Sunday 7am till 10am
Applicants will not have to cover all shifts. Please apply even if you can only cover 1 or 2 of the above shifts as employer can be flexible.

Work environment:
Within the client’s own home in Silverdale also support will be required to access activities outside of this area in the community

Job Role:
To support two young men with learning and physical disabilities, one who has Epilepsy.
These gentlemen always require supervision to ensure their health and well-being.
Your role will involve assisting with personal care, toileting, and showering, dressing and shaving
Your role will involve helping to promote independence skills in and around the home, supporting both young men with all general household tasks, including laundry, ensuring their home is clean and tidy
Undertake cooking and preparation of meals.
Your role will be to enable both young men to make the most of life’s opportunities by accessing facilities and local events that give them social inclusion to promote independence.
Escorting them to venues of their choice, supporting and joining in with activities
Transport, this may include driving and accompany to them to chosen venues or placements in an adapted vehicle
You will also need to provide short-term, overnight support, Sleep-ins on a weekly basis, either within or away from their home. However, this will be discussed at the interview.

Personal Assistant Specification:
Have full clean driving license, own transport is an advantage but not essential.
You will need to be a highly motivated, trustworthy and enthusiastic individual with the ability to work with two young men
You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be calm, patient, and supportive, flexible and able to use your initiative.
A good sense of humor is an advantage, together with a fun-loving attitude. It is important that you are friendly, out-going, honest and reliable.
You should have some knowledge and understanding of risks including understanding of personal safety. You must be responsible and have the confidence to address and resolve issues when they arise, (In the event of a medical emergency)
Have an awareness and knowledge of equal opportunities and experience of working with vulnerable adults.
You will encourage responsible money management and help with keeping accurate records of spending.
Willing to undergo any training highlighted or needed by your employers.
Successful applicants will be required to supply two references and be able to complete an enhanced DBS disclosure, the cost of which will be met by the employers.
