Main duties of the job

Ward 5and SEAC are a General surgical ward with an established Surgical Emergency Ambulatory Care Unit.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced qualified nurse to join the team, who will be able to act as a senior, Registered Nurse, with proven leadership skills, providing a high standard of care to our patients.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone ambitious and focused to join the leadership team on Ward 5at Furness General Hospital. This is a fantastic development opportunity of which full support will be given to achieve reasonable objectives.

We would like to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated nurse, to join our dedicated team, who is a forward thinking, professional, and a strong team leader. The successful candidate would be committed to working with the ward manager to develop the Surgical Ward and SEAC, to meet exceptional standards of safe, patient led care to ensure a positive patient experience. Whilst also supporting team members to excel and develop in their roles and take pride in the acute inpatient service provided.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

Experience

Essential

Recent relevant experience at senior level within the speciality. Evidence of clinical competence in speciality. Understanding of the setting and monitoring of standards. Evidence of teaching and developing staff.

Qualifications

Essential

1st level registered nurse. Recent post basic clinical qualification in relevant clinical area. Mentoring / assessing qualification or Teaching qualification eg City & Guilds, Professional Trainers Certificate.

Desirable

Recent leadership development or willingness to work towards a leadership qualification. ECDL or equivalent.
