We are expanding our team of Clinical Healthcare Support Workers band 3 within Medical Assessment Unit (MAU).

We provide all the training you need before you start working on Medical Assessment Unit. You will start on our induction programme to help you settle into the Royal United Hospital Bath and you will learn the skills you need to do this role, working towards achieving the Care Certificate (if you do not already hold this qualification).

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker you will be a core member of the team delivering personal care, both clinical and non-clinical, to patients. You'll also be key in supporting patients with their own self-care and independence.

You'll work under the guidance of a healthcare professional such as a nurse. Your daily duties will be varied to include:

Helping patients get up, washed and dressed, taking patients to the toilet, helping at meal times Contribute to patient assessments such as blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation Recording your actions accurately in patient notes. Use of electronic equipment such as computer on wheels.

The skills we are looking for:

You need to be able to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing in English You don't need any formal qualifications in maths but you will need to have numerical and analytic skills to do patient observations, and totalling of fluid balance. You will need to have a customer focused approach which is essential to providing patients with the best possible experience You will need to be able to use IT systems and database.
