Our Mildenhall Children's Home is recruiting for a Deputy Manager. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Deputy Manager to become an integral part of our support team. In this role, you will support and care for our young people and be responsible for a small staff team.

Our benefits include...

  • Exclusive access to reward and discount scheme

  • Comprehensive induction

  • Commitment to your ongoing training and career progression

  • Pension scheme

  • Paid for enhanced DBS

  • Wellbeing support

  • Cycle to work scheme and more

Our children’s home is situated between Mildenhall and Lakenheath, in the Forest Heath District which boarders onto Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. It’s a 5-bedded home for males and females aged 8 - 18 with emotional, behavioural difficulties and other complex needs associated. The home seeks to provide a safe and understanding ethos in which the young person can be assisted to address their behaviours and to take responsibility for their own actions. The emphasis of the work is by way of intervention and to challenge the inappropriate behaviour through a holistic therapeutic approach.

Our home has a small holding where we keep farm animals which provides environment enrichment for our young people. Our staff and young people help to look after these.

Due to the location of the home, a Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

As part of Aspris Children’s Services, we are immensely proud of the career pathway and training we can offer you. We ask that you can demonstrate the values needed for a role, transferable skills, and life experience and in return we will give you all the training and support you need to progress.

A Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People is essential for this role and you should be willing to study towards the Level 5 Diploma. The ideal candidate will have experience of team leadership and the following characteristics to be successful in this role:

  • Resilience We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.

  • Communication Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

  • Organisation As well as supervising the staff team, you’ll need to be confident and organised in updating care plans and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.

  • Caring Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

  • Attentive No young person is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.

Above all, we provide a supportive and collaborative working environment where you can flourish in your career and feel incredibly rewarded by helping those who need it most.#TJ

If you want a job for life, Aspris Children's Services will help you get there.

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service and at least 2 references which cover the last 3 years, for all our services we will request references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults. Please be advised that references may be requested prior to interview for roles within our Schools.
