At Aldermore, we’re building a modern cloud based data platform to unlock the Group’s ambition to make a positive difference to people’s lives. As an AWS data platform engineer within the Data Delivery  team, you’ll play a key role in delivering the future of our Cloud Data Platform infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines  Our data platform team plays a crucial role in enabling our data engineering teams to be successful. The products and tools that our platform team builds help to simplify complex processes, reduce effort and accelerate delivery across all other teams, whilst ensuring we meet the highest standards.  

This is a newly created role within our data delivery team, where you’ll play a crucial part in delivering our brand new cloud data platform, which will be the foundation for everything data-related moving forward This new platform will not only help keep our bank secure by reducing our risk footprint across the business, but will also enable us to operate our current services more flexibly and as we explore more innovative opportunities with areas like generative AI all of this will be powered through this new cloud data platform. 


What will your day look like?

•   Contribute development and evolution of our new Cloud Data Platform ensuring that our solutions are robust, scalable, and secure 
•   Operate as the interlock with and Data Platform SME for the wider Aldermore Cloud fabric engineering team 
•   Collaborate across multiple teams, understanding our business needs, and ensuring that our Platform is always aligned with our company's goals and vision 
•   Own the design and provision of effective self-service capabilities that benefit all data engineering teams 
•   Continuously seek to understand and improve Cloud Data Platform capabilities, innovating to improve delivery and business value 
•   Lead the conversation with functional squads on best practices and reusability 


What do we expect from you?

•   Experience configuring and deploying enterprise-grade AWS infrastructure 
•   Experience managing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform 
•   Strong understanding of cloud-first data platform architecture patterns/anti-patterns and associated network fabric options 
•   Knowledge of DevOps practices and principles, including CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments 
•   Strong scripting skills with languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell 
•   Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, and understanding of security best practices and compliance in cloud environments
•   Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate between technical and non-technical language 
•   Familiarity with data governance and data quality management practices
