Education/Experience

Essential criteria

First level registration with post registration qualification appropriate to speciality Evidence of continued professional development •Teaching and assessing qualification •Communication skills training

Desirable criteria

Advanced communication skills training •Non-medical Prescribing qualification •Masters level study

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

•Relevant post registration experience at band 6 or above in this or appropriate speciality •Previous experience in a post involving clinical and managerial responsibilities. •Previous experience of teaching and developing teaching materials •Demonstrate evidence of well-developed clinical practice •Ability to deal with complex patient care including symptom control, discharge planning and psychological support

Desirable criteria

•Conversant with the key principles of clinical governance

Skills, Abilities and attributes

Essential criteria

•Ability to communicate unpleasant /difficult information to patients in a variety of settings with sensitivity. •Able to analyse data and provide written reports. •Intermediate IT skills in word processing and spreadsheets •Able to manage work autonomously. •Knowledge of professional and NHS issues related to palliative care •Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills •Change agent-participating
