Wood Power Solutions (PSUK) is seeking Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineers to join the Engineering area of our growing business As a leading provider of engineering and construction services to the UK transmission and distribution sector, we are at the forefront of net zero 2050 with a secured workstream for years to come. PSUK is a selected ASTI contractor delivering vital new build infrastructure in the UK. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support our growing workload within overhead lines and contribute to the increased network capacity required to deliver the UK government's pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero. The OHL Design Engineer role provides flexibility as a hybrid role, working between home and our offices in either Glasgow, Horsham, or the Midlands area; however, location to suit the candidate may be given but preference will be afforded to applicants who can work from the Glasgow office/ area. You will already have proven experience within transmission and distribution; and working knowledge of PLS CADD/ Tower for design line work coupled with a broader CAD skillset. The successful candidate will possess a solid grounding of HV OHL design supporting construction, procurement, and consultancy on a variety of projects and in turn we will support your professional development and recognition within the sector. What You Will Do:

Complete overhead line design studies to support construction and consultancy projects. Set up and develop transmission line models. Produce electrical line performance assessments and all electrical safety studies. Produce or utilise OHL support models within the transmission design models. Evaluate, select, and quantify transmission line components on projects. Support safety by design assessments throughout the design process. Integrate and support the development of innovation within project solutions. Create design deliverables to confirm the outputs of the engineering studies to internal and external stakeholders. Ensure, as far as practicable, that all assigned work is conducted in compliance with the agreed budget and programme. Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope.

Essential:

Post high school qualifications in engineering, or applicable related, discipline. Basic understanding of overhead transmission line design. Ability to utilise PLS CADD/ Tower to develop design outputs. Fluent spoken and written English language. Ability to work as part of a dispersed and remote team and be able to communicate through collaboration software such as Microsoft teams. Ability to work effectively in a diverse team. Awareness of key Health and Safety impacts on OHL construction contracts.

Desirable:

Ability of use CAD design software. Ability to create PLS CADD Models from topographical survey data.
