Job overview

We are looking for a Senior Specialist Nurse to assist in the ongoing development of our European NETs Centre of Excellence service at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The role will support the current CNS with ongoing development of the Neuroendocrine service, including those with Thyroid and Adrenal cortical cancers.

You will be supported by our expert team to develop high level knowledge and skills in supporting patients with endocrine and neuroendocrine cancers within one of the leading centres in the UK. This will also include opportunities to network with other neuroendocrine cancer teams both nationally and internationally.

Main duties of the job

You will have an integral role within both the Endocrine/Neuroendocrine MDTs, delivering high quality personalised care for patients with a range of different endocrine cancers. This will involve;

working closely within endocrine, oncology, HPB and gastroenterology teams as the patient’s key worker to ensure patients pathways are effectively managed having a key role working across these care boundaries as well as liaison between primary and secondary care. delivering nurse led management of common neuroendocrine treatments, opportunity to develop nurse led clinics for patients with endocrine/neuroendocrine cancers on treatment and those on long-term surveillance. supporting the running of a successful regional support group for neuroendocrine patients. offering holistic needs assessment to seamlessly integrate this new endocrine cancer specialist nurse post into the existing neuroendocrine cancer specialist nursing service, to provide high-quality person-centred care to all patients with both a neuroendocrine and endocrine cancer diagnosis. to scope current pathways in endocrine cancer to identify barriers and facilitators to enable pathway refinement ensuring individualised expert patient care is delivered across all newly developed pathways.
