Job summary

Due to relocation of the current post holder we have an opportunity for a dynamic and experienced pharmacist to be our pharmacy education and training lead. This role offers the opportunity to engage and work collaboratively at all levels within the organisation and system, regionally, and with schools of pharmacy and other education providers.

As a member of the pharmacy leadership team, you will be responsible for the education and training of our pharmacy workforce, across 3 acute hospital sites, community services and primary care network. The Trust has a vertically integrated model which enables collaborative working across teams and innovative opportunities for multisector learning and working.

You will have a clear vision for the education, training and further development of the pharmacy workforce; relevant knowledge and experience; and experience working as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital.

Main duties of the job

To lead the development and implementation of an education and training strategy for all Pharmacy Professionals in line with GPhC, NHSE and national standards.

To direct and oversee the education and training needs of Pharmacy Professionals to ensure they have sufficient skills and knowledge to competently do their joband provide high quality and safe pharmacy services.

To provide strategic and operational leadership of pharmacy training programmes including pre-registration pharmacy technician training, pharmacist foundation training and newly qualified pathways.

To lead on RPS accreditation for advanced practice and consultant pharmacists.

To oversee and coordinate clinical placements and work experience within the Directorate.

To further develop and maintain links with NHS England and academic providers, including local Schools of Pharmacy and colleges.

Qualifications

Essential

Masters (or equivalent) degree in pharmacy Membership of General Pharmaceutical Council Postgraduate clinical diploma or equivalent qualification/experience

Desirable

Formal leadership or management qualification Independent prescribing qualification Other relevant qualification ( coaching, teaching, train the trainer, mentoring)

Experience and skills

Essential

Recent experience of working as a senior pharmacist in a hospital. Experience of delivering education and training to large and small groups of pharmacy staff. Experience of coaching and mentoring staff and students. Experience of establishing and maintaining constructive partnerships with external agencies Knowledge and experience in a named field of clinical pharmacy.

Desirable

Experience of developing links and / or teaching with academia (post and undergraduate). Experience of practice research with evidence of publications, abstracts, presentations, audits etc Evidence of professional involvement at a regional or national level
