GemFair proudly operates a diamond buying office in Koidu, Sierra Leone, where artisanal and small-scale miners committed to ethical practices can sell their rough diamonds. We uphold stringent membership terms focused on ethical sourcing, ensuring every stone brought to us meets the highest standards of integrity.

As a GemFair diamond buyer, you'll serve as the vital link between miners and consumers, utilising cutting-edge digital solutions to trace, confirm, and record the provenance of each stone.

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Conducting professional negotiations with clients, offering fair valuations based on De Beers assortments, polishing potential, and market factors. Ensuring compliance with sourcing protocols to safeguard the GemFair/De Beers brand. Handling cash transactions with precision and accountability. Managing export processes, liaising with government agencies and ensuring secure transport via Freetown. Contributing to the development of GemFair's technology and traceability solutions in collaboration with our UK Product team.

Qualifications: Technical expertise in De Beers assortments and rough-to-polished (RtoP) manufacturing. Proven negotiation skills and a deep understanding of market dynamics. Data literacy, proficiency in MS Excel, and meticulous attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in diverse, multicultural environments. Large stones valuation experience desirable Sarine (Advisor 5+) knowledge beneficial Data Literate – can build and/or manipulate data-tables in MS Excel Detail oriented / numerate with proven history of reporting / data collection. Strong communicator – reporting upwards and within multi-cultural team. Comfortable operating in remote areas of the world Flexible in approach to working hours. Open to change – embraces new approaches including utilising new technology.
