The Head of Learning & Development will be accountable for establishing and executing the learning and development strategy for Tortilla Plc. This role is pivotal in enabling the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of our people development and culture. The role will also be key in business partnering with the operation and leading individuals and teams to success through learning and development initiatives that meet the needs of the business.

This is a full-time position offering hybrid working arrangements with three direct reports to lead, The role offers a competitive remuneration package of up to £65K plus great benefits. Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record as an L&D leader in a leisure, retail, or hospitality environment with the ability to successfully manage and develop an L&D team.
  • A strategic thinker with experience in translating the objectives of a business into a clear learning strategy.
  • An innovator who keeps their knowledge up to date regarding the latest technology and digital trends in this area and has an entrepreneurial approach to service design and delivery.
  • A strong understanding and ability to utilise design-thinking methodology to create service improvements based on the requirements and needs of a range of stakeholders.
  • Able to work in an agile, high-pressured environment and can respond quickly to stakeholder needs.
  • Experience in managing and influencing multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects.

Responsibilities

The Head of Learning & Development at Tortilla Plc will play a pivotal role in shaping our talent development landscape. Responsible for crafting and executing a comprehensive L&D strategy, this role focuses on fostering high performance, unlocking potential, and retaining key talent crucial for meeting succession needs. From overseeing the design and procurement of learning initiatives to aligning programs with business priorities, the Head of L&D ensures that the workforce is equipped with the necessary skills and support to thrive. Additionally, they spearhead the digital learning agenda, manage apprenticeship programs, and provide data-driven insights to senior stakeholders and more.

The Brand

Founded in October 2007, Tortilla is the UK’s largest fast-casual Mexican restaurant group, offering a high-quality, affordable, and freshly prepared California-style Mexican menu.

Tortilla was founded by Brandon and Jen Stephens after they identified a gap in the UK market for a high-quality, fun, and affordable fast-casual Mexican restaurant that was reminiscent of the taquerias of their native San Francisco—the self-proclaimed burrito capital of the world. We are committed to maintaining the authenticity of our ingredients and preparation methods - we do not have a single freezer on site

Following a period of impressive growth, we operate a multichannel order strategy that enables customers to enjoy our fast, filling, fresh food across dine in, self-serve, take away, click & collect and delivery. This is supported by more than 65 Tortilla restaurants across the UK, 10 sites in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, cloud kitchen estate and partnerships with leading delivery platforms. Last year, we acquired Chilango, further strengthening our position as the UK’s leading fast-casual Mexican chain.

Tortilla has ambition to grow and have circa 150-200 stores in the UK, with exciting growth plans in Europe through company owned and franchise models.
