JML is looking for a Museum Learning Consultant to provide interim leadership of the learning team at the Jewish Museum and support for the Senior Learning Manager to grow into the leadership role of permanent Head of Learning
We would be pleased to hear the views of prospective consultants and currently envisage the key activities as being:
- Leading the Learning Team in development of responsive and creative programming around Jewish heritage collections in a fast changing political situation/transitional phase of the Museum’s activity to Museum without walls
- Leading audience consultation and income generation from learning programme activities including roll out of in person schools workshop in partner venue
- Supporting and developing the team to deliver excellence in programming and development of key skills for the whole team
- Create a personal development programme for Senior Learning Manager to develop high level leadership and strategy skills including developing a network of peers in Museum learning leadership delivering best practice and short placements in other heritage organisations to learn about learning theory and practice in other museums and heritage organisations.
- In person and written reporting on learning strategy development and learning programming to CEO, board of trustees formal meetings. Management of learning programme funders, reporting and support for learning funding applications
- Working with CEO, Heads of Operations and Collections Engagement to deliver smooth running of museum NPO and NLF Activity plans and leading NPO learning content creation for future funding including NPO annual activity programmes
- Responsibility for learning team budget and overall financial management

Budget
A budget of £33,600 is available for this commission. This is exclusive of VAT, but fee submissions must include VAT if applicable and any personal expenses (e.g. travel) likely to be incurred across the contract period.
Responding to this ITTPlease provide a response of no more than four sides of A4. Responses should provide us with:
- An understanding of your skills and experience, relevant to the brief and to JML as an organisation. We are particularly keen to understand your heritage learning management, strategy and delivery experience, as well as staff development and coaching experience.
- An understanding of previous experience in all aspects of heritage learning and leadership commissions/roles. We would like to understand the nature of the work undertaken and the outcomes achieved.
- An understanding of your approach to the brief and how you would provide leadership for the learning team, learning programme development and support for the Senior Learning Manager to develop into the FT Head of Learning role in 2025.
