Job DescriptionAs a Flight Checker you will be responsible for checking prepared meals for all the classes ensuring that the meals are matching with the specification and comply with menu cards. You will also ensure you have to checked any requests for special meals or last-minute requests (additional meals, aircraft changes, return catering, etc.). Report any discrepancies with labelling or paperwork to Shift Manager.
- You will be responsible to do final quality and quantity checks on packed flights
- Working in a chilled environment and will be provided with the appropriate equipment and clothing. Defining systems of working to ensure quality of product, problems are resolved with solutions and continuous improvement initiatives are instigated
- You will be responsible to make sure flights are 100 % checked
- Must be a team player and able build relationship with other team members.
- The nature of the role requires a lot of lifting, bending, and stretching.
- You need to be able to work under own initiative.
- Hour by hour full status updates to the managers about the tasks
- Each day will be different as you may be working on different customer assignments
- To build and maintain excellent working relationships with all department Heads, ensuring the provision of a positive and professional service that elevates the DO & CO reputation and any highlighted problems have an implemented solution
- Carry out all procedures in a safe manner in accordance with the attached Health and Safety responsibilities
- The nature of the role requires a lot of lifting, bending, and stretching.
- Maintaining good working relationships with all DO & CO family members.
- Ability to work in chilled environment
- Working knowledge of Basic Hygiene
- Ideally some experience in a production/manufacturing/stores environment
- Basic Numerical and checking skills are essential for this role.
- Basic written and verbal English, and will use a variety of methods to communicate with team and other departments
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- The ability to work on your own.
- Physical skills like movement, coordination, and dexterity.
- To enjoy working with other people.
- Have a basic understanding of Food Safety, you will attend training as part of the role to achieve Level 2 Food Safety
- Ready to roll up your sleeves and do what is needed to give our partners the best service with a problem-solving mentality
- Meticulous attention to detail and data driven with the ability to influence different departments to suggest, implement and track solutions
- Build strong relationships with colleagues, mentoring and motivating, creating a team spirit, encouraging them to be at their best
- Have a great understanding and working knowledge of the whole unit and be the expert in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands-on approach
- Previous experience in a similar role or experience within a fresh food industry related sector
- Excellent working knowledge of reporting
