StocktononTees, United Kingdom Sword Group Full time

Sword is a leading provider of business technology solutions within the Energy, Public and Finance Sectors, driving transformational change within our clients. We use proven technology, specialist teams and domain expertise to build solid technical foundations across platforms, data, and business applications. We have a passion for using technology to solve business problems, working in partnership with our clients to help in achieving their goals.

About the role:

This is a unique opportunity to work hands-on with engineering data, playing a crucial role in streamlining project data for use in cutting-edge engineering projects. Imagine yourself preparing and transforming data, collaborating on impactful projects, and discovering solutions to complex data challenges. Each day brings new puzzles and rewarding achievements as you optimize the flow of essential data for high-profile clients.

With Sword Phusion’s in-house technology and a supportive team, you’ll build on your SQL skills, engage with fascinating engineering datasets, and help create data solutions that power the future of engineering. This is more than just a technical role - it’s a chance to grow, innovate, and contribute to projects that make a difference.

As a SQL Database Technician, you will:

Process client data arriving in multiple formats, including Excel, Access, and SQL databases, ensuring it’s structured and ready for use. You’ll manage the first phase of data cleansing to help prepare project teams for seamless execution. Use SQL Server tools (such as SSIS and SSRS) to import, organize, and validate large data sets. Your work will ensure project data is accurate, connected, and optimized for use in engineering applications. Create streamlined, consistent processes for importing and exporting data, allowing clients to access real-time insights across their systems. You’ll help shape our approach to data processing, ensuring each project is set up for success. Work closely with project teams, solving data-related issues with creativity and insight. You’ll help develop innovative solutions for unique data challenges and contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and tools. Ensure every data manipulation task is done accurately, following quality standards and maintaining a clear audit trail. You’ll help establish best practices and document procedures, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

Proficient in SQL and comfortable working with data in SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS knowledge is a plus). Skilled with data handling tools such as Excel and Access, with the ability to adapt to various data formats and complexities. Previous experience with engineering data or technical documents is a plus, but not essential - we’ll train you to thrive in this unique environment. Proactive work ethic, self-motivation, and commitment to accuracy in data handling. Effective verbal and written communication skills to work smoothly with project teams and clients.

Benefits
