Field Application Engineer Wanted InCirencester Salary 40/45K

TheJob

You will be visiting customers with existingnetworks and products which will need fixing or updating you shouldhave a solid understanding of networking and basic programmingskills for devices.

You will need a consultativeapproach and a cando attitude and fix problems quickly. Thecustomers are high level so confidence in dealing with externalstakeholders at a high level is important. Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Office basedduties include; Level 3 technical support configuration of customernetworking equipment and development of productconfigurations.

  • Fieldbased duties include; attending customer sites to qualify ourproducts in the customers network or to troubleshoot anissue.
  • Document customersrequirements and engagements thoroughly. Including stakeholders:people and positions customer network preferences technologypreferences and customer qualification milestones.

  • Validate Optical Transceiverperformance and Code compatibility per customerrequirements.
  • Identify gaps in our productdatabase and work with Engineering to develop newproducts.
  • Understand customer technicalroadmaps and make product solutionrecommendations.
  • Assist customers with theirqualification plans and requirements.

  • Create test plans to replicatecustomer issues and work with internal teams to ensure customerrequirements are completed in a timelymanner.

  • Work jointly with Engineering PLMCSEs and Sales teams to articulate customerrequirements.
  • Providedetailed documentation on customer requirements site visits andaction items
  • SupportJunior Engineers with their customer issues and sitevisits

Qualifications andExperience:
  • Opticaltransceiver hardware component (TOSA/ROSA) performanceunderstanding.
  • Indepth experience with opticaltransceiver Form Factors to include SFP SFP QSFP andOSFP.
  • Indepth understanding of opticaltransmission methods including PAM Coherent andNRZ.
  • Ability to read and understand customerdesign requirements.
  • Computer skills required:Microsoft Office HEX ASCII EEPROMs
  • Experiencewith DWDM CWDM MUX/DEMUX optical networktypology.
  • Experience or understanding of FiberOptic Splitters Circulators andAmplifiers.
  • Experience in areas such as networkdesign and implementation LAN/WAN interfacing Internet protocolsand TCP/IP and server and networkinfrastructure.
  • Experience with Optical Testequipment related to OTDR BER SNR and Sensitivity performancetesting
  • Bachelors Degree (BEng) or four yearsof related experience and/or training or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.
  • Experience with I2C MDIO and SPI protocols.
  • Understanding of MSA IEEE and SFF standards relevant toOptical Transceivers
  • CCNP CCIE or CISSP ITILindustry recognized IT related certifications aplus.
