Aboutthe role

Were looking for a1st Line Technical Support Engineerwho is versatile and can manage a diverse set of responsibilitieswith a solid foundational knowledge in Linux. A generalunderstanding of networking will also be beneficial. Your role willprimarily involve being the first point of contact for all customerinquiries in addition to supporting various ongoing projects anddeveloping your skills through onthejobtraining.

Candidates must have a strong workethic and be comfortable at troubleshooting technical issues takingownership of tasks while also knowing when it is appropriate toescalate.

This role also includes some simplesales and billing tasks and depending on the location may includehands on with hardware cabling and equipment in our data centres aswell as and managing our inventory areas.

Anideal candidate would be passionate about providing an excellentquality of service to our customers and have firstclasscommunication skills. Previous experience in a serviceorientedcustomerfacing role isrequired.

Working Hours LocationandEligibility

  • Hours:Fulltime 40 hours per week including a 30minute daily PAID breaktime.
  • WeekendWork: Candidates must be willing to work onweekends.
  • Location:This is a remote role; however occasional business trips may occur.Living in or near Frankfurt Amsterdam or London is beneficial butnot required.
    Candidates must reside in the UK EU or USAand have the legal right to work in their location. Verification ofwork eligibility will berequired.
  • Home OfficeRequirements: Candidates must have a reliablehighspeed internet connection and a dedicated quiet workspace athome. This is essential for maintaining productivity and ensuringthe ability to participate in clear uninterrupted communicationwith the team andcustomers.
Requirements

TechnicalSpecification

The ideal candidatewill have had exposure to most of the following:

Essential:

  • At least 1 years experience ofinstallation and management of Linux even if that isselftaught
  • Some command line experience on aLinux operating system
  • A basic understanding ofserver technology/hardware
  • A basicUnderstanding of IP networks; IPv4 TCP/IP LAN/WAN DHCPDNS
  • Exposure to using SSH to accessservers
  • Minimum of 1 years of customerservice/technical support experience.
  • Strongproblemsolving skills and logicalthinking
  • Outstanding attention to detail andexcellent teamwork skills
  • Fluent in Englishwith excellent oral and written communicationskills

The following are notessential but exposure to some of the following would be anadvantage.

Desirable:

  • Basic shell scripting knowledge(Linux/BASH)
  • A genuine interest in Linux andthe cloud/hosting industry
  • Exposure to any ofthe following: Apache NginX php MySQL docker pxe/ipxe apt yumgeneral ticket systems.
  • Understanding of VPNprincipals.
  • Exposure to and management ofvirtual servers ideally KVM based
  • Experienceworking with DRAC iLO IPMI
  • Some exposure to HPDell or Supermicrohardware
