The Azure Fiber team in Romsey is seeking dynamic candidates with energy and a passion for innovation to join our team. You will be working on fabrication technologies for radically novel optical fibers, including glass preform manufacture, optical fiber drawing and associated processes. The role will involve close interaction with the R&D team to take new fabrication methods for next generation fibers and turn them into robust and reliable processes that can be successfully transferred into volume manufacture by the production team. Additionally, you will be required to support the scaling up of the new fabrication facility to meet customer demand and company ambition. As such, this role involves hands-on work in our state of the art Romsey facility five days per week. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related fieldOR equivalent experience Experience of developing and documenting optical fiber manufacturing process and experience of new product introductions (NPI) would be advantageous Proven experience in process engineering Experience of statistical process control methods and their application Experience of facilitating improvement in yield through identification and reduction of waste and stabilisation of production processes Use of lean problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies and practices Demonstrated ability in innovative development and practical application Experience in the operation and use of high value capital equipment Knowledge of cleanroom working environment and disciplines

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Capability to arrange and analyse data to identify trends and correlations Knowledge of full product lifecycle from concept through to production

Preferred Qualifications:

Responsibilities
