Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and dedicated pharmacist to help lead the development of our inpatient pharmacy services across the Trust. As a member of our senior management team, you will oversee the Lead Pharmacists for inpatient services and also support the management of our Community Mental Health Team pharmacists. This is an exciting role that allows the potholder to help shape and develop pharmacy services across KMPT. They will be required to network and drive innovation in mental health medicines optimisation within the organisation, at the interface of inpatient and community services and work collaboratively with other stakeholders.

The post holder will need to have an independent prescribing qualification and post-graduate qualification in psychiatric pharmacy, or relevant experience in mental health will be essential. There will be a requirement to join the on-call clinical pharmacist rota.

Main duties of the job

The main duty in this role will be to take operational responsibility for the safe, secure, effective provision, management and strategic direction of all inpatient medicines management services across the Trust. You will have a particular role in implementing and monitoring the inpatient clinical pharmacy standards and working closely with the Chief and Deputy Chief Pharmacist to identify service gaps and areas for improvement. You will be responsible for areas of service and line management of pharmacy staff. You will also be involved in working with the other lead pharmacists in undertaking and developing audits and projects to evaluate and improve services alongside pharmacy and Trust priorities and objectives.

Job responsibilities

The roles and duties of this post include:

Manage the lead clinical pharmacists for inpatient services in the East, North and West Kent locality and support the Advanced CMHT Lead Pharmacist by managing two CMHT Lead Pharmacists. Take operational responsibility for the safe, secure, effective provision, management and strategic direction of all inpatient medicines management services across the Trust. To ensure a high-quality, clinical pharmacy service is delivered to inpatients and their carers within Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT). Provide professional pharmaceutical leadership and expert advice on all matters relating to prescribing and medicine management services to the Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, Medicines Management team, individual services and clinicians. Promote seamless and integrated care for patients with mental health conditions, supporting the transition of patients across inpatient and community services so they receive the required level of care to support them in taking their medication safely. Support the management of shared care, ensuring patients are being monitored and reviewed in line with best practice, evidence and guidance. Be responsible for policy implementation and staff development relating to medicines management across all the inpatient sites in Kent. Represent pharmacy at local governance meetings, including writing medicine management reports for the Drug & Therapeutic (D&T) group and the Clinical Effectiveness and Outcome Group (CEOG) meetings. Publish the bimonthly "Medication Matters" newsletter to all staff across the trust, sharing insights on medication-related alerts and errors, and updating staff on new policies and procedures. Lead the setup of the pharmacist on-call rota and participate in the clinical on-call pharmacist service as needed. Person Specification

Master's Degree in Pharmacy Post graduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy Post graduate qualification in leadership or management Non- Medical Prescribing qualification Member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council, with at least 5 year's post graduate experience

Practice Supervisor Qualification Postgraduate qualification in Psychopharmacology Working towards being a Designated Prescribing Practitioner
