The Role

The postholder will carry continuing responsibility for the organisation, coordination and management of ward areas, community and neonatal unit and the effective deployment of staff on a shift to shift basis. S/he will be involved in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical care within all patient areas of the maternity service by acting as the clinical expert and support to the multi-disciplinary team whilst ensuring compliance with NHS Lanarkshires policy and procedures and maintaining statutory requirements in accordance with the NMC. S/he will provide managerial support to the Senior Charge Midwife/ and Practice Development Midwife whilst developing and maintaining clinical skills in practice. To provide safe, effective centred person care.

What we'll need you to bring

Registered Midwife with valid NMC RegistrationEducated to/working towards/operating at Degree LevelPost graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional developmentFurther education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualificationThe post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiativeExcellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.Effective time management skillsWorking knowledge of basic information technology

It would be great if you also have

Extensive midwifery/nursing experience Experience in taking charge of ward, planning, implementing and evaluating care throughout midwifery/neonatal career

23 hours

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Maternity within University Hospital Wishaw.

The working pattern for this role will be Rotational Shifts.
