Job overview

Working Full time: 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated registered nurse to join the urology unit and the Urological Cancer Specialist Nurses' 

As a cancer specialist nurse the post holder will have a strong focus on urological cancers and aiding the urology service achieve our faster diagnosis pathways.

The successful applicant must have urological experience and have a keen interest in oncological care.

The successful applicant must be able to manage a caseload of patients, and be able to work autonomously the main duties of the role will include triaging patients with suspected urological cancers and supporting patients and their families through cancer diagnoses.

Providing a collaborative service working alongside Clinicians to provide a robust diagnostic service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to work closely with the Lead cancer nurse under their supervision and alongside clinicians and multidisciplinary team , providing holistic care to patients being investigated for urological cancers.

The post holder will be involved with weekly MDT discussions and responsible for completing outcomes and referrals to other specialist areas.

The post holder will conduct nurse led clinics and be able to conduct these autonomously within their scope of practice.

The post holder will act as a mentor to junior members of staff and the band 4 cancer support workers.

The post holder must be able to demonstrate good leadership skills and they must have obtained there mentorship qualification and regularly mentored and assessed junior members of staff.
