Job Description:
We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated 1:1 SEN Behaviour Support Assistant to work at a specialist school in Dudley. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide individualized support to a pupil with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they thrive in a positive, inclusive environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to help the pupil overcome barriers to learning, particularly related to behavioural and emotional challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN, focusing on managing and improving behaviour.
  • Implement individual behaviour plans and assist in developing strategies for effective emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to support learning and social development.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing environment that promotes independence, confidence, and positive self-esteem.
  • Encourage participation in class activities and ensure the pupil is fully integrated into the learning experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to reviews and assessments.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, especially those with behavioural challenges.
  • Happy to do personal care if required.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow school policies and procedures.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education or support work are desirable but not essential; we welcome applicants with experience.
  • A Child and Adult DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
