Job Title: SEN Behaviour Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team at a specialist school in Dudley. As a key member of our support staff, you will work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to provide individualized support to a pupil with special educational needs (SEN), focusing on managing and improving behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement individual behaviour plans and assist in developing strategies for effective emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to support learning and social development.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing environment that promotes independence, confidence, and positive self-esteem.
  • Encourage participation in class activities and ensure the pupil is fully integrated into the learning experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to reviews and assessments.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with SEN, especially those with behavioural challenges.
  • Happy to do personal care if required.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow school policies and procedures.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education or support work are desirable but not essential; we welcome applicants with experience.
  • A Child and Adult DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
