Job summary

The Sheffield Liaison Psychiatry Service are looking for outstanding clinicians to join our team.

The Liaison Psychiatry Service is currently a member of the Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network (PLAN) and serves the people of Sheffield. We received over 5000 referrals (365day/24hrs a day) into our service through in the last financial NHS year. Person centered care is at the heart of our practice and we work hard to support each other through the day-to-day challenges of working in this demanding role.

We are firm believers in evidence-based practice and are currently involved in a national research project 'Fresh Start', offering adapted therapies delivered by Mental Health Practitioners to people who otherwise may struggle to access services. Currently there are training opportunities within the team to deliver the adapted therapy.

Main duties of the job

We deliver a high standard of early triage, assessment and follow up intervention to individuals aged 16 or above admitted to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, working with a range of mental health presentations. Variety is certainly guaranteed in the role and will serve to enhance your clinical skills.

Considerationwill be given to bothfull-time and part-time working, the salary will be pro rata for part-time hours.

Job description

Job responsibilities

You will need to demonstrate relevant experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting across secondary mental health services and with other partner agencies particularly working alongside Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, CAMHS, Social Care and the Police. Knowledge of working within crisis mental health services is desirable but not essential as we can support you to develop in this field and you will most likely have transferable skills.

You will possess excellent clinical triaging and assessment skills using a Biopsychosocial model and be able to work effectively with service users and their relevant others to formulate collaborative plans prior to their discharge from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Knowledge and understanding of PDR and supervision processes are also essential requirements for the post together with a commitment to the appraiser and supervisor role. We promote regular supervision and team discussion / debrief as part of our working culture.

Additionally, you will need to possess excellent communication skills, be motivated, able to work independently, and as part of a multidisciplinary team and with other partnership agencies. You should have a positive approach to meeting the needs of our service users and be able to demonstrate continued professional development.
