Teaching Personnel is seeking a Design Technology Teacher to join our fantastic partnership school in Central Bath for September 2024 with potential of starting earlier within Term 6. You will be part of a dedicated team starting 1st September 2024. This position is open to experienced D&T teachers or those from other specialisms willing to retrain.

The role involves teaching Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, including the WJEC Hospitality and Catering course. The school may also reintroduce the successful Design & Technology Product Design course in the future.

They offer fully funded training from D&T association specialists, available throughout the year, and support for non-specialists to retrain in D&T.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design lesson plans, materials, resources and teaching various aspects of food preparation, nutrition and cooking.
  • Emphasize food safety and hygiene practices in the kitchen.
  • Teaching a deep knowledge of food chemistry, innovations and the ingredient impact of the body.
  • Assess students’ knowledge, cooking skills and practical abilities through assignments, tests and evaluations
  • Promoting cultural awareness and appreciation of diverse foods.
  • Encouraging students to participate in community projects, fundraisers or food related events.
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with parents and guardians providing them with information about their child’s progress in the class.

The successful educator will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in the in a relevant field such as Home Economics, Food Technology etc.
  • Qualified Teacher Status is desirable however if you have a wealth of experience teaching the subject, we would like to hear from you.
  • Experience teaching KS3 and KS4
  • An enhanced child only DBS – This can be applied by through us.
  • 2 school-based references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
