1 x secondment post for a Quality Improvement Skills Training (QIST) Tutor has become available within the QIST department of Health Education Improvement Wales (HEIW). Applications between one and three sessions accepted.

HEIW has an ambitious Quality Improvement Skills Training Programme aimed at equipping healthcare professionals with the appropriate skills to undertake quality improvement activity that will lead to improvements in patient care and make healthcare safer, more efficient, effective and equitable.

This programme of work involves collaboration with health boards across NHS Wales, local faculty and Public Health Wales via Improvement Cymru.

HEIW's focus on improving improvement capacity in NHS Wales and embedding improvement capability across the healthcare workforce, has increased the demand for delivery of QI training and development, project support and, increasingly, advanced QI training.

The postholder will be expected to support the delivery of the QIST Programme across a range of specialties and professions.

Main duties of the job

To deliver QI training sessions and project support for a range of specialties and professions, including those in training and their trainers. To assist the Clinical Lead for QIST and QIST section in mapping QI training to curricula and meeting with stakeholders to assess training needs in training programmes. To assist the Clinical Lead for QIST with the design of future programmes, and 'scale up' the delivery of QI training across Wales To assist the Clinical Lead for QIST to liaise and build a collaborative relationship with Improvement Cymru (including IQT leads), LEP's and related health service providers. Provide project mentoring and support sessions. Support continued development of the QIST educational agenda, translating national curriculum updates into local strategy. Support the development of QI specialty leads on behalf of the QIST section. Attend QI training updates with HEIW and respective Royal College or Faculty.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This post is secondment until 31/10/2024 due to meet the needs of the service

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential

Membership of a Medical/Dental Royal College Full GMC/GDC registration Detailed knowledge of the training curricula, either medical or dental Completion of Silver IQT, or equivalent

Desirable

Have completed Improvement Advisor training or have a willingness to undertake

Experience

Essential

Proven experience of being a clinical or educational supervisor for trainees Demonstrable experience of undertaking QI activity Proven organisational skills and evidence of effective workload management Demonstrable clinical skills and knowledge to deliver clinical QI teaching
