Job Description

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the Commercial team, supporting them on a large telecommunications Contract.

Your day to day will include:

Working alongside the project delivery team, you will ensure the contractual control and cost management of the projects. Having exposure to the full project lifecycle with involvement across pre-construction through to project delivery. You will manage the commercial aspects of subcontract accounts from procurement to interim and final account agreement and be involved with the final account negotiation to ensure the best possible outcome.


We believe that doing the work itself gives the best opportunity to learn, so you can expect to be given responsibility, and will need to be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team, all whilst receiving the guidance and support to allow you to develop. 

What might your day to day include?

Organising the division of projects into component work packages for procurement. Assessing returns from sub-contractors and awarding work packages. Negotiating with sub-contractor supply chain to achieve best value. Physical measurement of works and agreement of same with client and subcontractors. Agreement of certification and payment of subcontractor accounts - monitoring of such accounts against forecasts. Preparation of applications for payment to clients.

A Quantity Surveyor at ULC will have the opportunity to assist in all of the above tasks and see projects from inception to completion on site.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying 

Skills: 

Effective decision making and strong verbal and written communication  Proactive and driven approach to work and promoting success  Ability to working in a team of diverse individuals to meet common objectives.  Buy-in to achieving deadlines set by Clients and Managers  Good organization skills: ability to manage multiple tasks and willingness to ask for help when needed, as well as support other members of the team Strong Knowledge of NEC Contracts Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel
