Teaching Assistant
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £12.82-£14.72 per hour
Start Date: September
Long Term, Full Time, Temporary to permanent
Are you passionate about helping children with special needs? We have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and progressive Secondary special needs school in Portsmouth. This school provides both specialist school places and Alternative Provision (AP) for students who have a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) developmental needs and/ or medical needs.
This role offers the chance for a Teaching Assistant to work alongside experienced teachers, supporting small groups of children with individual learning plans.
Responsibilities
- Working with small groups of children, through targeted interventions, to ensure all students reach their full potential.
- Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons, providing one-on-one support to students and facilitating small group activities.
- Assisting in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment, following the school’s behaviour policy.
- Supporting teachers in assessing student progress and providing informative feedback to pupils.
- Safeguarding will be your number one priority, ensuring the welfare of the children.

- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
