Main duties of the job

The role of the hospital practitioner in cardiology is to support our specialist service under the supervision of a nominated secondary care consultant. The post holder will see patients in the outpatient setting under the supervision of a named consultant. The post holder will also initiate and interpret clinical investigations. The post holder will communicate with the patient and referring GP with diagnosis and any further management and recommendations that may be required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • GPVTS Trained or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration
  • MB ChB or equivalent
  • MRCGP

Desirable

  • MD or PhD
  • MRCP

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical training and experience in FY1/FY2/ GPVTS in Cardiology
  • Ability to offer clinical opinion on range of problems within specialty
  • Ability to take responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Ability to interpret clinical investigations

Desirable

  • Clinical experience of audit
  • Clinical experience of applying cardiac clinic
  • Experience of interpreting cardiac clinical investigations

  • Workplace Health Clearance by time of appointment
  • Access to transport and ability to travel across hospital sites
