1:1 Support Assistant


Do you have experience working with challenging behaviour and have a keen interest in supporting children in their education?

If yes, then this may be the role for you

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary SEMH provision in Burnley for pupils aged 5-16 years old. The provision based in the BB12 area require additional staff to provide 1:1 support for pupils displaying challenging behaviour. The setting provides support mostly for children who have social, emotional, or mental health difficulties.


Main duties
- Support learning both in and out of the classroom as directed to by the class teacher
- Support Individual behaviour plans
- Establish excellent working relationships with both pupils and staff
- Engage with pupils on a level to gain respect and trust
- Encourage children to interact and work co-operatively with others
- Support the children in engaging them in learning activities
- De-escalate high stress situations
- Use appropriate clarification, explanations, equipment and materials to support learning
- Promote the acceptance and inclusion of pupils within the classroom

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
