The service has recently undergone a sensational transformation creating new posts across the CAMHS Rapid Response team in Slough.
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner you will offer high-quality mental health assessments and short-term intervention to young people experiencing mental health crisis. You will work closely with the wider CAMH services in Berkshire as well as local authority, education colleagues and other services as required.
Excitingly, we are now performing a 24 hour service for our clients which means you will be required to work some evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
You will need to have excellent communication skills as well as a compassionate nature to ensure you are giving your full support to both patients and their families.
As a service we are very committed to the development of our staff and can offer both internal & external training and development opportunities with this role.

Main duties of the job
Complete comprehensive psychosocial crisis assessments for young people who have presented in crisis. Offer short term intervention to stabilise the crisis (follow up appointments, multi-agency consultation-liaison) Identify ongoing care plan needs for young people and their families to ensure they are referred to appropriate services. Maintain and develop key relationships with professionals external to the area of service, as well as patients and their families To be responsible for the accurate maintenance of clinical record keeping and ensuring all systems, records and data are stored and transferred correctly

Essential
Significant post-qualifying experience of undertaking comprehensive assessment of mental health needs, developing care plans and offering appropriate support based on psychological formulation of presenting difficulties. Experience of working with service users with high risk presentations and undertaking risk assessment and risk management plans. Experience of hard-to-reach diverse community groups and individuals with emerging complex needs, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities and safeguarding. Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environment
Desirable
Experience of working within mental health settings supporting children, adolescents and their families. Experience of providing supervision or leadership to others. Experience of contributing to service improvement initiatives.
Knowledge and skills
Essential
Knowledge and skill to assess acute mental health crisis, and deliberate self-harm at Tier 3 levels. Demonstrates up to date knowledge of legislation and National strategies and requirements for CAMHS. Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour. Ability to motivate and inspire others and to support others to develop key competencies. Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. Ability to take clinical responsibility for patient care and treatment.
