Job summary

To work as a member of a community based team of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants. Use OT expertise to assess, implement, evaluate and review OT plans for service users and carers, applying strength based, compensatory and adaptive methods of Occupational Therapy to promote independent living.

Application of a workingknowledge of the Care Act 2014, Housing Regeneration Act and Disable FacilitiesGrant Guidance, Health & Safety Legislation and Building Regulations

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

MSC/ Bsc/Diploma in Occupational therapy State Registration (HSPC & College of OT) An ability to work with staff and managers at all levels across the community, engaging with health, housing, partner agencies, and voluntary sector. To be proficient in the use of ICT systems and packages Experience of diffusing conflict and complaints Demonstrates positive attitudes and behaviours, taking a strength based approach to assessments Ability to communicate effectively with people with complex difficulties and in difficult situations Knowledge of relevant legislation, national guidelines and best-practice for a range of conditions Experience of case-management in clients with complex long-term conditions and disabilities General knowledge of safe installations and use of Assistive Technology, disability equipment and adaptations General knowledge of common conditions, their prognoses and management Experience of working with people of diverse cultural and religious communities Ability to work autonomously, prioritising and organise own work and caseload, including delegation Full Driving Licence with access to a car on a daily basis Physically capable of carrying, transporting and fitting equipment in peoples homes, within manual handling constraints and guidelines
