Job summary

We are looking for an experienced therapy assistant practitioner to complete our Community Neuro Team. Based at St John's Therapy Centre in Battersea. The successful applicant will work within a well-established multidisciplinary team of skilled clinicians supporting Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy to deliver high quality neurorehabilitation and disability management to patients.

This clinical role involves independently assessing and managing a caseload of patients with a range of acquired and progressive neurological conditions. As such, the successful applicant will have sufficient previous clinical experience and initiative to independently provide patient-centred community rehabilitation and complete the associated administration.

There is a mix of working with people in their own homes, the therapy centre and/or other community settings. The successful applicant would see patients on an individual basis and will also lead or co-facilitate groups. As this is a community post, it would be preferable that you are a car owner/driver or be a confident cyclist.

Main duties of the job

To independently carry out assessments of allocated clients, planning and delivering a range of rehabilitation programmes, supporting OT, PT and SLT.

To carry out rehabilitation of clients in their own homes, day centres, the local environment, including outdoors, and within the therapy centre with and without direction or supervision of a qualified therapist. These can include:

Mobility Exercises Daily living tasks Cognitive strategies Speech and communication Swallowing Secondary Prevention initiatives

To run groups autonomously or with the support of colleagues from the wider team (these could include Nordic Walking, Upper Limb group, exercise group, Living Well after Stroke group, Fatigue Management group, Living Well with Dysphagia group, Move Bigger & Speak Louder Group, Speak Louder Support Group).

To independently assess and review simple ADL equipment and bas
