About the role
We have an amazing opportunity to join Northumbrian Water and work within our Water Networks team as a Customer Distribution Operative in the Teesside, Teesdale and the North Yorkshire Area. You may know these roles as Ganger, Utilities Operative, or Civils Worker. You’ll be delivering our vision and supplying a clean, clear, and reliable supply of drinking water to customers in our local communities and delivering an unrivalled customer experience to help deliver the success in our business vision to be National Leader within the Water industry, and to providing world class service and our essential-for-life product, Water
We’ll be providing you with the opportunity and support to learn and develop skills which will enable you to carry out work on our water supply network. This role will be varied and could involve the installation, repair, and maintenance of our underground pipework and assets, ensuring clean and tidy sites for our customers.
You’ll be working in a way which provides outstanding service to our customers, communities and protects the local environment, along with taking responsibility for your actions and behaviour while always demonstrating the company values. We’re looking for you to demonstrate flexibility, including active participation in a standby rota and additional initiatives to achieve better performance.

This role has been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test. About you
Although, you will be provided with full training, coaching and support, a background within the utility sector would be advantageous, however if you can demonstrate experience in manual tasks e.g. groundworks, excavating, landscaping etc this would be welcomed.
