The Vacancy

Newcastle College is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated male Specialist Support Practitioner in Access to join a passionate team that supports the achievements of students with additional learning needs where you will work with students with additional learning needs, including young people, adults and/or those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities. 

You will be working closely with the Advanced Specialist Practitioner in access and Specialist Support Practitioners to deliver high quality support to students who require personal care, assistance, medication, and feeding.

You will also work closely with the curriculum and Educational Partnership team to transition new learners into the college. You will support learners accessibility and adaptability in their provision at college. Including assessing learners for any relevant access plans, emergency reaction and evacuation plans.

As the successful candidate, you will be an enthusiastic and adaptable person, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to inclusive education. You will have Level 2 English & Maths or equivalent, and qualifications and or training in manual handling, risk assessments and personal care. You too will need to be able to work flexibly, including evening work, and supporting at our off-site provision.
