An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire within the Estates Department. This position is open to an enthusiastic and dynamic Assistant Project Manager who is able to work effectively with the Clinical Teams to assist with the designing and implementation of projects at both sites (Coventry & Rugby).

Recent projects have been the £15m reconfiguration of the ED Department, Coventry (still in progress), installation of 2 Modular Theatres (Rugby), creation of the Maple Unit Chemotherapy Suite (Rugby) and the creation of a 4th CT Scanner (Coventry)

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Project Manager will support the Head of Estates and Facilities to deliver a number of projects for the Trust. They will ensure that projects are delivered within budget, within scope and within an agreed project programme.

You will work with the Estates Team, Clinical Groups, Wards and Department to ensure effective and efficient delivery of small work requests.

You will assist other members of the Estates Team to monitor performance of the PFI Hard FM Service Provider and general project support.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Management of the small works request process and budget, by reviewing incoming small works requests from Trust staff, provide advice and support where necessary and ensuring quotes are accurate and demonstrate Value for Money. Assist the Head of Estates and Facilities in the effective delivery of projects by ensuring robust communication structures with all Specialities and Groups regarding this work. Project manage discreet projects as directed, ensuring that the project programme, project budget and project scope is managed accordingly. Attend project meetings and keep an accurate record as requested. Taking away any Trust actions and ensuring they are dealt with within a timely manner. Assist in the Estates Teams delivery of the Capital Programme. Taking responsibility for individual aspects of the programme by managing work streams and budgets. Manage the non-medical furniture ordering process, ensuring the Trust procures items through the PFI Provider as necessary. General project management support to members of the Estates & Facilities Team. Management of Estates Datix incidents by carry out investigations into incidents and reporting/closing out on the Datix system. Negotiates and discusses technical project-related information with staff and contractors, and negotiates all aspects of projects to ensure that clinical requirements are met. Highly developed physical skills required to prepare and/or manipulate technical drawings using CAD. Use of AutoCad and other associated specialist software. Contributes to the review and development of Estates related procedures/policies. Regularly undertake R&D activity by involvement in Estates type site surveys at both sites.
