Job summary

An exciting substantive opportunity has arisen for an Associate Haematology Cancer Nurse Specialist within an established nurse specialist team. This post is based in Lincoln but will support the Haematology CNS teams trust wide.

This post requires a forward thinking, highly motivated, problem solving approach with the ability to manage your own caseload within a fast paced and complex speciality.

Is is essential that you are a registered adult nurse with experience within the speciality of haemato-oncology.

You will be supported and encouraged to achieve your full potential through continued training with the opportunity to attend relevant education/courses to develop within the role.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with evidence of working as part of a multidisciplinary team and as an autonomous practitioner.

Alongside the specialist nurses, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent clinical leadership and expertise in all aspects of haematological cancer nursing by providing high quality specialist care and management throughout the patient pathway. Working closely with the Haematology consultants and the multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for the holistic care of patients with chronic long term conditions and patients who need rapid and intense interventions for acute haematological cancer. The post holder will co-ordinate complex patient care from diagnosis, treatment, active monitoring, survivorship and end of life care.

You will also work closely with tertiary centres and be actively involved with stem cell transplant and CAR T cell coordination.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse Level 1 First level degree Specialist qualification in cancer care or willingness to work towards Level 2 Psychological support training or willingness to undertake Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable

Counselling Course History Taking and clinical assessment course/competencies Formal leadership and management training Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent

Previous Experience

Essential

Relevant post registration experience in Haematology Experience and knowledge within Haematology (SACT experience) Experience in teaching Experience of multi-professional working Evidence of good communication skills

Desirable

Previous experience working as a clinical nurse specialist Line management experience Leadership and management experience Demonstrating ability to lead and influence change Experience of audit and research
