Our Legal Department is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Property Lawyer to provide a professional and efficient conveyancing service within our dedicated Legal Team. The role will involve the drafting of all transactional documentation related to the sale and purchase of land as well as the grant of commercial leases, licences and easements. The Council from time to time transfers or leases surplus Council land to a wholly owned development company and you will draft the transactional documents relating to these dispositions, including securing any development funding advanced by the Council to the company over the land in question. You will also provide conveyancing support to the administration of the ‘First Homes’ Scheme.
You will be a qualified solicitor with a current practice certificate and at least two years post qualification experience of a mix of residential and commercial conveyancing. A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude, you will have a good understanding of the organisational, legal and political context in which the Council operates. A willingness to undertake occasional legal duties outside your property specialism in order to address workload peaks and cover for colleagues in their absence, will be an advantage.
The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).

The Council also will pay for the annual renewal of your practice certificate and fund the training required to support your continuing professional development.
The Council operates a hybrid working system where employees may work two days per week from home.
