Are you passionate about supporting young learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder? Join our dedicated team as an ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary) at a welcoming school in Ashington. GSL Education are looking for a motivated individual to make a real difference in the lives of children with ASD.

As an ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary), you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and positive environment for pupils with ASD. Whether you are looking for part-time or full-time work, we have flexible roles to suit your availability.

Responsibilities as an ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary):

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to children with ASD in a primary school setting.
  • Assist the class teacher with daily lessons and activities.
  • Help to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Implement personalised learning plans tailored to the needs of pupils.
  • Encourage social and emotional development.
  • Support pupils with their communication and behaviour management.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils.

To be a successful ASD Teaching Assistant, you should:

  • Have previous experience working with children, ideally with ASD or special needs.
  • Display a caring and patient approach.
  • Possess strong communication skills.
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Hold relevant qualifications or training in special education (desirable but not essential).
  • Be willing to learn and adapt to the needs of the children.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
