Glasgow, United Kingdom Low Carbon Full time

About Low Carbon

Low Carbon invests in, develops, and operates large-scale renewable energy projects across the globe to fight climate change and protect the planet for future generations. We are building a net-zero energy company with the goal of creating as much renewable energy as possible. We are a purpose driven, long-standing certified B-Corp and recognised as gold standard for our environmental impact.

Our culture is really important to us. Our people are friendly, approachable and professional. We value enthusiasm, entrepreneurialism, clear communication and drive. This combined with our purpose and passion for climate change, is why our colleagues recommend Low Carbon as a great place to work.

Role Description

We are hiring a Senior Stakeholder Manager to join the UK Development Team with a focus supporting onshore wind development in Scotland. The team is based in a brand new Glasgow office but as this role will require regular travel around Scotland, candidates working from bases in areas such as Inverness or Perth could also be considered. You are likely to be in Glasgow on a regular basis so must be willing and able to travel.

As we are developing a large portfolio of onshore wind projects we are looking for a highly organised individual to take on responsibility for all stakeholder engagement across a range of project phases from inception to construction. As a key public facing member of the team, you will also be comfortable dealing with a variety of stakeholders and representing Low Carbon in a professional manner.

While we will support and guide you as you establish the position, you’ll be given a lot of autonomy so you will need to be a self-starter. You will ideally bring an energy to the role which will shine through in your interactions with the team and the wide variety of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Being the public face of Low Carbon as we introduce and develop our projects within new and known communities across Scotland and the UK
  • Ability to identify and proactively engage networks of local interest groups, charities and individuals who can help support our projects
  • Our first point of contact for project stakeholders; from individuals and community groups to politicians.  Ensuring timely and professional responses are provided, and logged properly.
  • Confidence to calmly respond to criticism / concerns about our projects
  • Producing exhibition and website materials (technical team will support)
  • Coordinate and execute first class public project events (technical team will support)
  • Proactively facilitate discussions with development team / external agencies and communities to form a Community Benefit Fund offering that is meaningful and suitable for each project in line with Government Best Practice Guidance
  • Manage and promote project social media & website
  • Attend local authority and community council meetings (either online or face-to-face, which could also take place in evenings)

Skills & Experience

  • Ideally you will have previous direct experience in a stakeholder engagement role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including confidence talking on the phone
  • Confidence in engaging with a wide variety of people and an ability to summarise technical information effectively
  • An ability to manage external consultants to deliver work on time and to budget
  • An ability to work and multi-task under pressure and respond quickly to changing situations with projects
  • Computer literacy (MS Office) is essential and familiarity with cloud-based project management software would be useful. You will specifically need a strong grounding in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ideally you can show evidence of an organised approach to task / project management and an ability to structure and prioritise work effectively
  • Be someone that will focus on taking tasks through to completion
  • Willing and able to travel and occasionally work out of normal office hours
  • Full driver’s license

Our Compensation & Benefits

  • 26 days holiday plus your birthday off (with option to buy a further 5 days)
  • Discretionary Bonus
  • Bupa Health Check & Private Healthcare for you and your family (medical history disregarded)
  • Contributory Pension
  • Cycle scheme
  • Season Ticket Loan
  • Pluxee for commercial discounts and perks
  • 3 additional days for volunteering to support causes of your choice
  • Hybrid working model (minimum 3 days a week in office)
  • Annual credit towards short notice childcare, eldercare and pet care via ‘Bubble’
