Oracle Engineer

Location: Cardiff

Hybrid / Flexible Working

Salary: Up to £ 55,000 depending on experience + up to 20% annual bonus

About Us:

Founded in 2018 LDMS are part of the LC Financial Holdings group, a 4 pillar organisation that has over 2,000 employees across Europe. Together, we have an impressive track record of providing world-class credit expertise that spans over 20 years.

We are a Fintech company focused on digital lending software, a market growing around 18% per year and set to be worth $27 billion by 2028. Given our expertise within the company and across the group we aim to be the leader in the space, and in order to do that we need a team of people who can not just write quality code but can think, create and challenge others to come up with the best solutions for our customers. We are an ambitious team with a pretty big ‘to-do list’ including improving existing products, building new ones and delivering to new markets.

The Role

Here at LDMS it is all about teamwork.  We work in small agile teams, where the focus is on the frequent delivery of valued features and improvements to our customers and stakeholders.  Requirements for these features typically originate via the parent business functions to support changes to the existing account portfolios, or from migration projects to enable the onboarding of new external clients.  We also progress the resolution of issues raised via our Service Delivery team.

As an Oracle Engineer you will work with multifunctional teams helping to develop, deliver and support bespoke financial systems for high profile clients across EMEA. You will be expected to uphold engineering best practice and quality.

We integrate with modern, but proven, technology and leverage as much automation as possible, to make sure we can deliver great products without unexpected surprises.

We embrace the DevOps paradigm by engineering, designing, building, testing, releasing, and providing ongoing support for our own code, ensuring end-to-end ownership and seamless collaboration across all stages of the development lifecycle.

Requirements

This role requires an Oracle Engineer with demonstrable experience and proficiency in the use of Oracle PL/SQL. You will possess the ability to create and tune complex SQL statements, as well as analysing data and modelling data structures.

We will expect you to support the refinement and clarification of user stories, and make well-reasoned design decisions.  When tasks are large you are able to scope this down into smaller, actionable parts allowing the team to accurately manage and estimate work and deliver complex features.

You adjust well to shifting priorities when necessary, supporting the work of your peers through pairing, code review, cross-functional collaboration and providing mentoring/coaching as appropriate.

Whilst we see great value in bringing people in with specific skills, we also realise that sometimes your background may not perfectly overlap with what's listed below.  Being strong believers in continuous development and improvement we believe that there is always room for growth; supporting you continuously looking for ways to scale your own skills, whilst you help others to improve theirs. We’re looking to speak with mid level engineers for this role.

Essential

  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL development
  • Use of Oracle Database 12c and above.
  • Experience of working with modern tooling such as Jenkins, GIT, Jira, Confluence, Docker, UTPLSQL

Desirable

  • Experience in Oracle Forms/Reports development
  • Experience with Agile ways of working

What’s important to us?

It’s safe to say our passion is tech, but we recognise that it’s the people that we hire and bring together who are at the heart of the organisation. Over the years we have acquired and recruited a pretty eclectic bunch with hobbies ranging from gaming to ultra marathon running, snowboarding to chess and hiking and climbing, however, what we do have in common are our values:

  • Teamwork
  • Merit
  • Develop
  • Honest
  • Impactful
  • Integrity

They may just look like corporate jargon, but they mean something to us, and if you can relate to the above, get in touch as it there’s a good chance that you’d be a great addition to the team.
