The Site mobilisation lead is responsible for overseeing the quality and efficiency of commissioning and facility acceptance activities, ensuring all operational standards and maintenance programs are in place for a smooth handover. This role acts as the single point of contact for engineering, construction, commissioning and operations teams, ensuring the seamless transition of new data centers to site operations. Requirements for this position include thorough understanding of critical systems, an understanding of data center design theory, equipment sequence of operation, and data center operating best practices. This position is cross-functional and interfaces peer teams in Construction, Engineering, Site Operations, Business Operations, and Operations Program Management.
Essential Job Functions
Primary Contact: Serve as the single point of contact for Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations teams to ensure successful transitions of new data centers to Site Operations.
Quality Assurance: Oversee and ensure the quality of commissioning and facility acceptance activities necessary to deliver a technically sound facility to Site Operations.
Operational Readiness: Ensure all operational standards and maintenance programs are established for the newly built facility and are ready for site turn-over.
Facility Acceptance: Accept newly built facilities on behalf of Regional Site Operations Directors.
Team Onboarding: Facilitate the staffing and onboarding of new Operations teams at greenfield sites.
Duties
Partner with internal and external stakeholders throughout a project life cycle from site selection to project close out.
Maintain communication and collaboration during all phases of a new data center build.
Coordinate all construction related activities which may impact on any part of a live data center.
Attend the design review meetings to highlight operational concerns.
Support engineering team in facilitating inquiries that require input from Operations.
Share lessons learned that have been captured for consideration/mitigation in future builds.
Build functional knowledge of the site through attendance at key phases of the project gaining in-depth knowledge of the site and document known issues in the site risk register.
Perform site acceptance through civil/structural/architectural walks, beneficial use, and turnover walks.
Identify equipment quality issues and hold responsible parties accountable for remediation.
Conduct review of turnover documentations such as O&M’s, as built & record drawings, permits, certificates, and warranty documents.
Participate in turnover issue meetings and provide input on impact to Operations if accepted.
Ensure CMMS is fully populated with equipment data and maintenance scheduling plans.
Support site mobilization including procuring spares, tools, and consumables.
Engage with 3rd party maintenance suppliers for contract/agreement set-up.
Evaluate site operating demands and provide operator staffing recommendations.
Support hiring and onboarding of Site Operations teams.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience required
7+ years of experience in critical facilities operations or maintenance engineering with expertise in mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
5+ Year proven experience in datacenter design, construction, commissioning and onboarding processes or related experience
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to define these areas for other teams and team members.
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders consecutively.
Ability to create teams from various departments and work in a high-level collaborative environment while promoting a teamwork mentality.
Ability to initiate, drive and deliver projects, analyze complex problems and communicate plans and findings to internal customers/stakeholders
Willingness to work flexible hours, non-business hours, or other scenarios required by business needs
Ability to travel up to 50% of total work time.
Ability to travel internationally.
