Position: Pastoral Support Officer
Location: Whitstable, Kent

About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to join a thriving secondary school in Whitstable. This role is essential to the school’s commitment to nurturing and supporting the well-being of students. You will work closely with teachers, students, and families to provide tailored guidance, helping students overcome personal challenges and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students facing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges.
  • Act as a key point of contact for students, offering advice and pastoral care.
  • Develop and implement personalised pastoral plans to support students’ academic and personal progress.
  • Monitor students' well-being and behaviour, offering proactive interventions where necessary.
  • Liaise with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure effective student support.
  • Promote positive behaviour management and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a pastoral or support role within an educational setting (desirable).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Empathy, patience, and a passion for supporting the well-being of young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the wider school community.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures (training provided if needed).
  • Relevant qualifications in education, social care, or youth work (desirable).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
