Main duties of the job
The GP Clinical Psychology is a specialist resource that is truly free at the point of access and exists to benefit the health of the local community, whilst elevating undue burden on GPs by taking a large number of appointments and providing an alternative solution to meeting needs in a new way.
Assessment, treatment and discharge of patients and their carers and families, where the presenting difficulties and concerns can be managed as a psychologically based intervention. To support with triage, signposting and management of incoming referrals, allocation of patients, workload of staff members in the service and decisions about the nature of service provided. To assist with team clinical supervision and MDT working. The post holder will have specialist therapy training and experience and will be expected to work autonomously within professional guidelines as well as liaise closely with other professionals The post holder may have ambition to work with trainee clinical psychologists and this can be facilitated To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping using electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of Practice of the Health Care Professions Council, the British Psychological Society or SCPUK and the PCN To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific patient group and mental health

Launceston Medical Centre is a busy committed team working together in a recently refurbished and extended Practice in Launceston, close to the beautiful beaches of the North Cornwall Coast and surrounded by moorland countryside.
We have 6 GP Partners, 9 Salaried GPs (including remote GPs) with very experienced Management, IT, Reception and Administration support. Additional allied professionals who with within our team are Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and a Social Prescriber. We are also proud to be a training practice.

Job responsibilities
Toexercise full autonomy for the triage, assessment, onward treatment andreferral of mental health, neurodevelopmental, cognitive and health psychologypatients within the Launceston and Tamar Valley PCN.
Toset up and deliver service improvements that facilitates improved mental healthcare and health psychology interventions to our local community.
Toimprove the wellbeing of the local population and PCN staff via psychosocialintervention.
Toexercise full responsibility for the management of adult patientsself-identifying as having "mental health needs" without thecreation of a waiting list or exclusion criteria.
Toliaise with community stakeholders to address systemic difficulties based onteam formulation/understanding of the local population.
Tocommit to the development of the GP Clinical Psychology model.
Toconsider the wellbeing of Practice staff and provide practice levelintervention as required.

Good keyboard skills and computer literacy Ability to use computer to communicate by e-mail, to keep up to date patient records and databases. Ability to monitor and evaluate services, providing solutions for arising issues and initiating problem solving.
Experience
Essential
Extensive knowledge and experience of safeguarding and child sexual exploitation issues and procedures. Extensive specialist clinical psychology assessment skills which include; use of psychometric assessments of intelligence, memory, attention, social functioning, neurodiversity and dementia. Ability to identify and self-report gaps in knowledge and a passion for learning in these areas. Specific expertise in the use of at least 1 NICE guideline referenced therapy.
