Therapeutic Wellbeing Practitioner

Paisley, United Kingdom HC One Full time

HC-One Scotland is developing a Slow Stream Rehabilitation and Relapse Prevention Community at Hillside View care home. Hillside View has provided care for people living with alcohol related brain damage for many years but following  investment in environmental  design, workforce and L&D in Caledonian community, we have an exciting new opportunity available for those passionate about working with people who require support to prevent relapse and   help them to rehabilitate within a specialist sheltered setting where they can live  better lives, improve their daily living and social skills, learn how to organise their days and connect with their possibilities.

Supporting people with alcohol related brain damage who can be distressed and/or at risk of relapse involves ensuring that they have quality and purpose in their lives on a moment to moment and day to day basis through the delivery of personalised lifestyle support plans, along with supporting them to make future plans and achieve goals. This is achieved using a person-led, strengths-based approach with a key focus on slow stream rehabilitation.

Person-led support requires curiosity, kindness and compassion and the attitude of ‘never give up’. We’re seeking colleagues who have the patience and knowledge to understand our residents’ needs and support them to have a plan that will meet their aspirations and goals, whilst maximising their potential to live their best possible life.

As a specialist community, Caledonian will become a therapeutic care setting demonstrating that quality of care and quality of life are of equal significance. It will provide a bespoke living environment enabling slow stream rehabilitation, along with appropriate staffing levels and specialist training for colleagues in positive approaches to behaviour, psychosocial therapies, de-escalation techniques and suicide and self-harm prevention training. The therapeutic ambition will be that people will have potential for slow stream rehabilitation to maximise quality of life, rather than being defined by their condition or past behaviours, thereby leading to a reduction in their risk of relapse.

Being a Therapeutic Wellbeing Practitioner is an extremely rewarding leadership role. Having spent time getting to know residents, and the significant people in their lives, Wellbeing Practitioners support residents to live every day in a meaningful and fulfilling way. This can mean life skills and tailored activities programmes focused on stimulating the body, mind and soul, along with supporting the personalisation of residents’ rooms to create a ‘room as your home’, helping to promote relationships and friendships, collating and using life story work, maintaining and encouraging interests, and preserving as much independence as possible, as well as engaging residents in spontaneous meaningful moments of conversation and fun.  Promoting resident wellbeing at HC-One Scotland is a key goal. We know each of our residents need to feel valued and enjoy lifestyles that are uniquely tailored to them.

Your organisational skills and driven mind-set mean that you will always get things done and make things happen. You will have lead responsibility for the effective delivery of ongoing assessment, planning, implementation, review and evaluation of wellbeing activity, and will be accountable for the use of a bespoke Wellbeing Assessment Tool to support meaningful lifestyles. You will be a member of the Named Practitioner Triangulation Team and will attend the Case Review Meeting to report on Personal Wellbeing Plans and wellbeing activity.

Overall, your enthusiasm and creativity will inspire Colleagues to get involved in the day-to-day wellbeing of residents by helping them to live the life they want, as well as receiving the care they need.  You will be a role model to colleagues taking them on the journey with you, resulting in recognition that wellbeing is a part of everyone's jobs

HC-One Scotland is looking for someone with a background in working with vulnerable individuals, ideally with knowledge and experience of alcohol related brain damage, developing wellbeing programmes, and who knows the value of meaningful occupation, social engagement and slow stream rehabilitation. Beyond that, it’s all about your brilliant, positive energy and natural ability to get along with people, and, whenever you communicate with a resident, co-worker, family or external stakeholder, you’ll be truly considerate and kind.

In return, you will enjoy access to a huge variety of benefits and services to support your physical and psychological well-being and we will invest in you throughout your career as a Therapeutic Wellbeing Practitioner.

Through our bespoke Learning and Development Programme, we will equip you with the skills and expertise needed to provide residents with the best possible support. Delivered through both e-learning and face-to-face sessions, the programme covers topics such as communication, empathy, relationships and inclusion, and dementia care, including caring for those with complex needs, enabling you to enjoy a rewarding career as a specialist in alcohol- related brain damage.

HC-One Scotland is focused on helping you reach your potential, benefit from career progression opportunities, and enjoy a fulfilling career with us.

You will enjoy additional support and benefits including:

  • Hourly rate is subject to experience and qualifications.
  • Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
  • Free uniform
  • During a shift of eight hours or more a nutritious meal will be available
  • Company pension scheme
  • 28 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
  • Group life assurance cover
  • Award-winning learning and development and support to achieve qualifications.
  • GP online - a service providing around the clock GP consultation via an interactive app - available to you and your children under 16
  • An opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues as part of an outstanding and committed team.
  • Colleague discounts – Access to over 1600 high street discounts including carefully selected discount partners.
  • Wellbeing - free of charge access to an independent and confidential Employee Assistance Programme. This gives Colleagues and their family access to 24/7 365 support for a whole range of issues including physical, mental and financial issues
  • Excellent recognition schemes such as ‘Kindness in Care’ and Long Service Awards
  • An attractive refer a friend scheme of up to £1000 per referral, depending on the role

HC-One Scotland would like to attract, recruit, and retain its people, on the basis that their individual values and behaviours align with the values of HC-One Scotland

  1. Kindness – We are kind to everyone we care for, work with or meet at HC-One
  2. Integrity – We do what we say, keep our promises, and acknowledge any errors
  3. Essential – We prioritise what is important and then focus on those tasks
  4. Simplest – We are clear and straightforward in our communication.
  5. Best Value – We focus on tasks that offer real value and look for the best value in everything we do. It is these values-based behaviours and competencies that will be measured during recruitment and selection and performance development reviews (Ascent)

Everyone who works here understands that our residents are people just like them with their own stories to tell. By joining HC-One Scotland you’ll have a wonderful opportunity to give something back to those people.

We are passionate about ensuring that our current and future Colleagues can be their true selves, and that our workforce represents the communities we serve. We prioritise inclusive working practices and invite applicants from all backgrounds into our HC-One Scotland family and we are committed to providing the quickest possible turnaround from the point of making you a job offer to you starting with us on day one.
