Job summary

Do you have a passion for patient safety and experience? If you do we have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to undertake the role as Divisional Governance & Quality Project Officer for the Division of Integrated Pathways.

The division includes Older Peoples Services at Ipswich Hospital, Integrated Therapies, East Suffolk Community Hospitals, and the East Suffolk Community Services.

This person in this role works across all ESNEFT Ipswich/Suffolk sites, including the main hospital, community hospital sites and community services in Ipswich and Suffolk.

The position will be based at Ipswich Hospital but will may involve travel between sites to attend meetings, meet with the teams and perform audits.

You will support the management of patient safety and experience at divisional level. Facilitates best practice in the analysis and management of incidents, PALS and Complaints and supports the serious incident and complaint investigations and action plans. The Patient Safety & Experience Co-ordinator will work closely with the Divisional Governance Manager and Associate Director of Nursing & Therapies to promote, develop and implement effective clinical governance across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Specifically, you will provide multidisciplinary clinical staff with advice and information to effectively implement the principles and practice of clinical governance. You will take responsibility for delivering projects/ areas of activity linked to cross functional themes which are derived from national standards and requirements. You will work with members of the team in a matrix structure to fulfil specific outcomes.

Monitors incidents being reported within the Division ensuring that they are investigated and completed within the Trust timescale of 20 working days.

Liaises with clinicians, facilitates and monitors service area compliance with Being Open/Duty of Candour.

Identifies and analyses clinical risk and complaint themes and areas for improvements in awareness and clinical practice.

Undertakes analysis and other project work including short term urgentrequirements, to respond to governance and risk needs.

Builds relationships and promotes a patient safety culture, supporting service areas to improve care practice, systems and awareness following clinical incidents.

Please note you will need to travel between Trust sites and to other external venues for meetings/conferences so you will need to be a Car Driver and owner

Qualifications

Essential

oEducation to A-Level or equivalent with experience of working in the NHS in a Governance role

Desirable

oEducated to degree level in governance / risk oClinical qualification / experience

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

oProven knowledge and experience of clinical care within the NHS or healthcare setting; understanding the hospital as a whole. oRelevant training or experience of incident investigation, patient safety and risk management oExperience of working with multidisciplinary teams oFamiliarity and experience of using IT programmes. A working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint Success in working collaboratively across professions, services and organisational boundaries

Desirable

oExperience of being involved in an incident/complaint where improvements have been made oExperience of facilitating training sessions & presentations

Skills

Essential
