About the role
Senior Site Engineer - IFA - Sellindge, Kent
The Operations team are responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operational running of IFA 24/7/365. As a Senior Site Engineer, you'll have a critical role ensuring that IFA assets (Converter Station, Cables Systems, Substation & associated Operational Technology) maintain the highest level of operational performance.
You’ll lead on various projects within IFA Link’s high voltage electricity Converter Station, supervising team members ensuring safe systems of work are implemented and followed, sharing your knowledge and expertise to ensure completion of maintenance, refurbishment or replacement works on a variety of plant and equipment across IFA.
The current Interconnectors portfolio includes IFA, IFA2, North Sea Link and Viking Link. The role will include occasional support and attendance at these sites, and potentially others (including international travel).
This role offers a unique opportunity to join the IFA team that connect the electricity systems of Great Britain and France, helping to provide affordable, clean and secure electricity.
Key accountabilities
Manage the delivery of specific projects (enacting the Project Leader / Subject Matter expert role) to maintain and improve the performance of our assets and systems. Undertake standby and emergency call out duties, enacting the role of a Senior Authorised Person (SAP). Supervise Technicians and Third-Party Contractors to ensure optimum efficiency, cost effectiveness, with high standards of environmental and safety performance. Create a safety culture and develop assurance of procedural compliance and consistency across interconnectors.
About you
Knowledge and understanding of work and/or failures on HV & LV systems, encompassing both electrical and mechanical systems. Experience of working and making critical business and operational decisions with conflicting priorities and under pressure. Experience of delivering complex projects and a knowledge of basic project management techniques. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of gaining a high degree of credibility and influencing teams. Educated to a minimum of HNC in an appropriate Engineering discipline.Don’t meet every single requirement? What you'll get
A competitive salary between £51,000 to £65,000 – dependent on capability. Market supplement of £3,000 per annum. Standby allowance. Job requirement car.
