Job summary

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, and creative individual withinterest and experience in autism and mental health to join our small friendlyteam as we continue our commissioned initiative to improve theneurodevelopmental and mental health service experience for autistic childrenand young people within Sutton. You will be part of the team helping to furtherrefine and add more to the service journey and care for autistic young people.

Main duties of the job

As further enhancement and extension of theneurodevelopmental pathway provision in Sutton, we would like to give theopportunity to work onpost diagnostic initiative The Autism Plan (The A Plan). The job role will include:

SupportingQualified clinicians with ASD diagnostic assessment

Providingshort term mental health interventions under the supervision ofinterventions when needed asidentified by The A Plan.

Psychologicalconsultation to colleagues within Cognus and school

Contributionto research initiatives

We encourage the pursuit of interests associatedwith Autism and mental health clinically and research wise. We are strong advocates for continuedclinical supervision and CPD. Thesuccessful applicant will be based at Cantium House which is oppositeWallington Train station (30 second walk). There is scope for working from home part of the workingweek.

Applicants will need to demonstrate good knowledge and strongunderstanding of psychological frame works and practice in relation to youngpeople. They will need to have a FirstClass Honours Degree or 2:1 Honours Degree in Psychology.

Job responsibilities

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

To provide high quality evidence basedsupport/ interventions for autistic children and adolescents. To support with the face to facecomponent of ASD assessments.

Clinical

Supportdiagnostic assessments using standardised assessment tools for possible Autismand related neurodevelopmental and behavioural and/or mental health concernsfor children and young adolescents.Contributing to assessment, formulation, and recommendations for youngpeople with complex presentations of Autism

Provide post diagnostic interventions withyoung people

Work incollaboration with the wider network, including parents, school, and socialcare

when necessary

Liaise or workdirectly with parents, schools and professionals concerned on

specific cases when required.

Supervision

To participate inregular clinical supervision

Research

To contribute toresearch project when applicable

General

Organise ownworkload under the direct support and supervision of Qualified ClinicalPsychologist.

Ensure all dutiesare carried out in accordance with Health & Safety regulations as given inthe Health & Safety Manual.

To contribute toteam meetings and pursuits

To carry out, asand when required, any additional tasks and responsibilities as are reasonablecompatible with this job description and its objectives.

Experience

Essential

a. Worked with autistic young children and adolescents and ADHD b. Worked with young children and adolescents with mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma c. Implemented post diagnostic interventions for autistic children and adolescents d. Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

a. Interest in Autism and mental health b. Interest in research c. Interest in Autism across cultures

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

a. Have a good working understanding of child and adolescent development b. Knowledge of Acts and policies related to children c. Knowledge of CBT and/or other evidence based interventions d. Demonstrate good literacy and report writing skills e. Knowledge of risk and safeguarding
